Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Pomofy and the pomodoro technique.

What is a pomodoro timer?

A pomodoro timer is a productivity tool that helps you work in structured focus sessions followed by short breaks. Based on the time management method developed by Francesco Cirillo, it breaks your work into intervals, traditionally 25 minutes of focused work followed by a 5-minute break. After four sessions, you take a longer break to recharge. The best part is that you are not locked into the 25/5 default. Prefer 50-minute deep work sessions with 10-minute breaks? Adjust it to whatever helps you stay in flow because the technique is flexible by design.

How does Pomofy work?

Set your desired duration by clicking the duration button below the timer, then hit Start when you're ready to begin. Once the time is up, you'll receive a notification and a session modal will automatically appear displaying your completed duration. From there, you can add notes to capture your thoughts and assign tags to keep your sessions organized before saving them for future reference. We also support a Free Timer mode: a count-up timer perfect for open-ended tasks where you don't know how long you'll need in advance. Simply start it and let it run, giving you a clear picture of how much time you're actually spending on a task.

Is Pomofy free to use?

Yes, Pomofy is completely free. Just sign up and start focusing.

Can I use Pomofy without an account?

You can use the Pomodoro timer without signing in, but your sessions won't be saved to the cloud and you'll only be able to see the total minutes you focused that day. To unlock the full experience, including session notes, tags, and detailed analytics, you'll need to create an account and log in. Signing up gives you access to everything Pomofy has to offer, helping you stay organized and track your productivity over time.

Can I track my productivity over time?

Pomofy tracks every Pomodoro session automatically, turning your focus time into beautiful charts and insights. View your productivity history by day, week, or month and watch your progress grow over time.

How can you tackle laziness using Pomofy?

Laziness is something we all deal with, but the right system can make a huge difference. Pomofy tackles it by breaking your work into short, focused sessions, making it far less overwhelming to get started. The simple act of setting a timer creates a sense of commitment. Try just 10 minutes. Focus on one task, nothing more. Once you start, momentum naturally kicks in, and before you know it, you're deep in the zone, getting things done. When your session ends, a summary modal appears, showing your session duration and any extra time you kept going after the timer. If you stayed focused beyond the 10 minutes, you can add that extra time to your session, so there's no need to start another one. Every focused minute counts.
